A relaxing, quiet month

July has been a great month, a good month to enjoy the indoors and venture out early in the morning on my walks.  It was a very hot month with many days at 99 or 100, but now it is cooler in the low 90s (never thought I'd say that, let alone mean it.)

We made some new friends and had some good times with other friends.  I joined Kiwanis of Alexandria, a great group of dedicated folks.  We had a nice visit from Karen and Ron and Parker and Drew from Houston, and some good phone conversations with Grant in Athens, GA.

We flew up to Richmond, VA to see my Aunt Ann who at 101 was put on hospice care for a respiratory infection.  She was recuperating and feeling pretty well while we were there.  A physical therapist visited in the following weeks and got her going up and down stairs with assistance, and now she is enjoying life again, going out to lunch and being driven around the neighborhood.  The hospice care has ended as she is her young old self again.  We also had a good visit with Sam and Delle near New Bern, NC; Sam boiled some crabs that he caught - ummmhhh good.

We're making some plans for some nice short visits to areas of interest nearby, which are many.  We'll probably go to a B&B south of Breaux Bridge in September, up to Caddo Lake on the Texas/Louisiana border sometime in the fall, and to some of the charming locations in Acadiana.

Life is good!
