Made a Processional Cross

I was humbled when asked to make a cross for the small Episcopal church in Bunkie, LA.  It is to be carried by their young acolytes who can't carry the heavy brass cross.  I used a beautiful piece of mesquite given to me by an artist friend in New Mexico.

The cross was first used on Palm Sunday.  I've made and given away hundreds of small crosses, but this is the largest and was the most satisfying one that I've made.  (It inspired another in 2016)

Neighborhood proposed as National Historic District

We were in Baton Rouge yesterday supporting the nomination for our neighborhood to be placed on the National Register of Historic Places.  The state review committee approved and will send to Washington.

Alexandria Artists in Lafayette

We enjoyed an evening in Lafayette, LA at the Acadiana Center for the Arts at a wonderful opening of an exhibit of Pysanky eggs by our dear friend, Nicole Holcombe.  The installation was done by another great Alexandria artist, Janet Ahrens, assisted by Carl.  David Holcombe demonstrated the art of making Pysanky eggs in the hallway leading to the exhibit to crowds of interested visitors.
