Washington, LA - a small town, rich history

We visited the small town of Washington and had a most enjoyable day.

Our first stop was the Washington Museum and Tourist Center.  Mrs. Chelette gave us a wonderful history of Washington, which is the third oldest settlement in Louisiana.

We also visited the Old School House which houses over 100 antique dealers.  Not being antique collectors, we made no purchases.  It's a good thing that we parked our car in the right place -

After visiting the old cemeteries and seeing some of the old homes in town, we had a delightful lunch at Cafe Opera.  We both enjoyed gumbo - chicken and sausage, and seafood.  Excellent!

On our drive home, we passed through Chicot State Park north of Ville Platte; it will be a nice place to go boating and fishing in the future.
