George Rodrique at the Alexandria Museum of Art - 6/2/2011

Louisiana is a special place to me.  The city of Alexandria is a special city in this great state.  George Rodrigue is an extremely talented artist, a Cajun who grew up in New Iberia, LA.

The Alexandria Museum of Art (AMOA) hosted a special evening featuring George and his lovely wife, Wendy.  Wendy shared special stories about George, his art, and his relationship with his art.  During Wendy's wonderful narrative, George painted a blue dog, which at that moment he said was his favorite painting.

I took some photos and videoed much of the event.  Unfortunately, the battery on my camera lost power about halfway through, so I missed the balance of this special presentation.  I was able to photograph the painting at the end; George indicated that he would take it to his studio and finish it.

Enjoy the part of the special story that I was able to capture:

Wendy and George are a very special couple; this was so obvious as they shared.  When we went home, we went through the books about Rodrigue art that we have, and found one that was a special gift from a friend - "Blue Dog Love" by George and Wendy.  We had read this book previously, but after seeing and hearing Wendy and George together, we better understood what is a wonderful love story.
